Glaucoma following penetrating ocular trauma: A cohort tudy of the United tate Eye Injury Regitry

Purpoe To evaluate aociation between baeline tructural and functional ocular characteritic and the rik of developing pottraumatic glaucoma after penetrating ocular injury. Deign Propective cohort tudy Method Data from the United tate Eye Injury Regitry (UEIR) were obtained from a total of 3,627 patient who experienced penetrating ocular injury. The rik of pottraumatic glaucoma and aociated tructural and functional ocular rik factor wa etimated. Reult The rik of developing pottraumatic glaucoma wa 2.67%. The development of glaucoma wa independently aociated with everal baeline characteritic including advancing age (relative rik 1.02/yr 95% confidence interval [1.00, 1.03]), len injury (1.56 [1.03, 2.35]), poor baeline viual acuity (2.59 [1.62, 4.14]), and inflammation (3.02 [1.52, 6.02]). Concluion Thi tudy provide an etimate for the rik of developing glaucoma after penetrating ocular injury in a large cohort of patient and determined everal factor that are ignificantly aociated with the development of pot-traumatic glaucoma, including advancing age, len injury, poor viual acuity, and intraocular inflammation.
