Abstract :
Purpoe
To report our reult of 12 conecutive patient with conjunctival primary acquired melanoi (PAM) with atypia who were treated by topical Mitomycin C (MMC).
Deign
Retropective interventional conecutive cae erie.
Method
Twelve patient with PAM with atypia in one of their eye who were treated by topical chemotherapy with MMC were included in thi cae tudy. Eye with hitologically proven PAM with atypia were treated by two to five coure of 0.04% (0.4 mg/ml) MMC four time a day. Each coure lated 2 continuou week. Follow-up wa conducted on patient for control of local dieae, ide effect, and viual acuity in the treated eye.
Reult
In all patient, there wa complete or partial repone to treatment. In four patient, the pigmentation diappeared, wherea in eight patient, ome remnant of the pigmentation remained. In even of thee eight patient, the remnant of the pigmentation were table during the follow-up period of 4 month to 9 year, wherea one in whom re-growth of the PAM wa noticed wa uccefully treated again by topical MMC. No patient lot viual acuity at the end of the follow-up. All ide effect of the local chemotherapy were reolved after ceation of the treatment.
Concluion
Topical MMC chemotherapy i a good alternative to urgical exciion and cryotherapy in treating conjunctival PAM with atypia.
