Abstract :
Purpoe
Extra-gonadal germ cell tumor (GCT) are rare and can be highly aggreive. If correctly identified and treated with multimodality chemotherapy, their prognoi can be ignificantly improved. We examined a 10 month-old female with primary embryonal carcinoma of the orbit.
Deign
Cae report and literature review.
Method
Cae tudy with 7-year follow-up and literature review of intracranial and intraorbital GCT cae.
Reult
The patient preented with progreive proptoi and ophthalmoplegia. CT can revealed an orbital apex ma and biopy demontrated a nongerminomatou GCT—an embryonal carcinoma. The patient i tumor-free 7 year after multimodality chemotherapy. he ha mild amblyopia and a right micro eotropia.
Concluion
Nongonadal GCT of the orbit can occur and hould be conidered in the differential diagnoi of a young child with proptoi and ophthalmoplegia. Five-year urvival rate improve ignificantly with accurate identification and treatment.
