Abstract :
Purpoe Videoreflective dacryomenicometry (VRD) for evaluation of marginal tear film ha not been performed in patient with watery eye or in a controlled tudy. We ued VRD to evaluate the height of the central marginal lower lid tear film in normal adult and compared it with two watery-eye group and a potoperative dacryocytorhinotomy (DCR) group. Deign Cae-controlled interventional cae erie. Method We evaluated with VRD 20 ubject with normal lacrimal drainage function, 21 patient with primary acquired naolacrimal duct obtruction (PANDO), 28 patient with functional naolacrimal duct obtruction (FNLDO), and a potoperative group of 14 patient derived from the previou two pathologic group. Comparion between the four group wa performed to determine tatitically ignificant difference between tear film height. Reult PANDO and FNLDO group were hown to have ignificantly greater median tear menicu height ([TMH] PANDO: 620 μm, interquartile range [IQR] 453 μm; FNLDO: 731 μm, IQR 529 μm) than normal ubject (296 μm, IQR 214 μm; P < .001) and potoperative PANDO patient (265 μm, IQR 159 μm). There wa no ignificant difference in TMH between PANDO and FNLDO group preoperatively (P = .275). There wa a reduction in median TMH potoperatively of 355 μm (P = .008) in PANDO and 360 μm (P = .068) in FNLDO. Concluion PANDO and FNLDO patient have imilar preoperative TMH. In both thee group, TMH i ignificantly greater than in normal control ubject. Lacrimal drainage urgery ubtantially reduce TMH a meaured uing VRD in PANDO
