Retinal cytoid pace in acute Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada yndrome

Method We reviewed the fundu photograph and medical record of 35 eye of 19 Japanee patient with bilateral diffue choroiditi at the onet of acute Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada yndrome. Reult All eye howed ubretinal fluid in the poterior pole. In addition, yellowih round tructure were een in 15 eye (43%). Mot of the yellowih tructure were ubfoveal in location and ranged in ize from le than 1 dik diameter to 3 dik diameter. In 6 eye with thee tructure, optical coherence tomography howed liquid accumulation in the retina or thin wall, which eemed to eparate the cytoid pace from the ubretinal fluid. Late-phae fluorecein angiography howed pooling of dye within thee tructure a well a within the ubretinal fluid. Immediately after corticoteroid adminitration wa initiated, thee tructure began to be le obviou, and they diappeared completely within everal day; there wa a concomitant reduction in the ubretinal fluid. At the initial viit, viual acuity in eye with thee yellowih tructure wa lightly le than that in eye without them, but no difference in viual acuity were found during the period of follow-up. Concluion ubfoveal yellowih round tructure may be a common feature in acute Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada yndrome. However, they appear to have only a minor (if any) effect on viual prognoi.
