Abstract :
Purpoe
To decribe the preentation and treatment of a Taer penetrating ocular injury.
Deign
Cae report.
Method
A 50-year-old man with a Taer injury 1.5 cm below the right lower eyelid margin wa admitted to the emergency department of a tertiary hopital. The cae report decribe the ophthalmic aement, invetigation, treatment, and outcome of the Taer barb penetrating ocular injury.
Reult
The Taer ha a fih hook barb that caued a full-thickne wound adequately large for vitreou to ecape when the Taer wa removed. Conequently, the cleral wound wa repaired and cryopexy wa performed. The affected eye made a atifactory recovery, and the viual acuity wa 6/9 with a pinhole 1 week after operation.
Concluion
Any Taer injury around the orbit hould raie the upicion of a penetrating ocular injury. In likely cae, removal of the Taer hould be performed in an operating theater under general anetheia.
