Abstract :
Purpoe To ae the validity of a digital nonmydriatic fundu camera in detecting cataract a a caue of viual impairment. Deign Diagnotic tet comparion. Method Photo of the anterior egment of 72 eye were taken with a nonmydriatic fundu camera and aeed for cataract by two grader. Dilated biomicrocopy examination of the anterior egment of the ame 72 eye wa then performed and cataract graded uing the Wilmer cale. Reult Grader 1 and 2 reported 90% and 94% enitivity and 82% and 77% pecificity, repectively, when the digital photo were compared with lit-lamp biomicrocopy in determining viually ignificant cataract. In addition, both grader howed imilar ubtantial agreement between the digital photo and lit-lamp biomicrocopy when aeed for cataract (unweighted kappa 0.87 and 0.92, repectively, for grader 1 and 2). Concluion The nonmydriatic fundu camera may be an alternative method for creening for viually ignificant cataract in the community.
