Abstract
Purpoe
To report longer-term outcome in eye undergoing 25-gauge tranconjunctival uturele vitrectomy.
Deign
Retropective, noncomparative, cae erie.
Method
Chart review of the initial 45 conecutive patient (45 eye) that underwent TV by one urgeon (T..H.) for idiopathic epiretinal membrane (n = 15), refractory diabetic macular edema (n = 11), idiopathic macular hole (n = 10), and nonclearing vitreou hemorrhage (n = 9). All patient had at leat 6-month follow-up. Main outcome meaure included viual acuity (VA), intraocular preure, intraoperative complication, and potoperative complication.
Reult
Mean follow-up wa 13 month (range 6 to 25 month). Mean overall preoperative VA v lat potoperative VA wa 20/229 and 20/65, repectively (P< .0001). tatitically ignificant VA improvement wa een for each patient ubgroup. Mean preoperative intraocular preure wa 16.9 mm Hg (range 10–26 mm Hg). On potoperative day 1, week 1, and week 4, median intraocular preure wa 14.6 mm Hg (range 8–17 mm Hg), 17.6 mm Hg (range 8–38 mm Hg), and 17.7 mm Hg (range 9–33 mm Hg), repectively. No intraoperative complication occurred. Potoperative complication were 1 inferior retinal detachment (2.2%) 4 week after macular hole repair, 1 macular hole (2.2%) 6 month after epiretinal membrane peel, and 23 worening cataract in 29 phakic eye (79.3%).
Concluion
Le urgically complex vitreoretinal pathology may be uccefully repaired with TV. After a mean follow-up of more than 1 year, minimal complication were een, and none wa pecifically related to the uturele nature of the procedure.
