Abstract :
Purpoe
It i unclear whether protein C deficiency i aociated with retinal venou occluive dieae.
Deign
We performed a cro-ectional tudy.
Method
Member of a protein C-deficient family, either deficient or nondeficient, with a hitory of nonocular venou thromboi were included. All participant completed quetionnaire regarding their medical and ophthalmic hitorie. Each ubject underwent dilated direct ophthalmocopic and binocular indirect ophthalmocopic examination by a ingle vitreoretinal pecialit.
Reult
None of the 18 family member with a known hitory of nonocular thromboi—12 with and 6 without protein C deficiency— manifeted tigma of recent or chronic retinal vacular occluive dieae.
Concluion
Thi tudy howed no evidence of involvement of the retinal vacular bed in a family with an increaed rik of nonocular venou thromboi attributable to the deficiency of protein C.
