Abstract :
Poteriorc ichemic optic neuropathy (PION) i an uncommon caue of perioperative viual lo which i uually devatating. Thi thorough review ummarize mot cae publihed in the Englih literature. Perioperative PION ha been mot frequently reported after pinal urgery and radical neck diection. The viual lo typically preent immediately after recovery from anetheia, although it may be delayed by everal day. Viual lo i often bilateral and profound with count finger viion or wore. The examination finding are conitent with an optic neuropathy; however, the funducopic examination i initially normal. The caue i unknown, although patient-pecific uceptibility to perioperative hemodynamic derangement i likely. No treatment ha proven to be effective.
