Abstract :
Purpoe
Thi tudy aimed to identify the factor determining the ocular complication and viual outcome in patient with chronic anterior uveiti.
Deign
Retropective, noncomparative cae tudy.
Method
Ninety-one eye of 68 patient with anterior uveiti that lated longer than 3 month were aeed. Patient were divided into idiopathic and nonidiopathic chronic anterior uveiti and Fuch’ heterochromic uveiti. Viual acuity and complication uch a poterior ynechiae, cataract formation, raied intraocular preure (IOP), and poterior egment complication (i.e., cytoid macular edema and optic nerve involvement) were evaluated. Poor viual outcome meaured by life-table analyi wa conidered when logMAR (log of the reciprocal of nellen viual acuity) viual acuity wa 0.3 or wore.
Reult
No tatitically ignificant difference in the viual outcome were found between the three group of patient with chronic anterior uveiti. Poterior ynechiae formation wa, a expected, ignificantly increaed in patient with chronic anterior uveiti compared with thoe with Fuch’ heterochromic uveiti. There wa a trend for patient with nonidiopathic chronic anterior uveiti to have an increaed rik of cytoid macular edema compared with thoe with idiopathic dieae. There were no ignificant difference in viual outcome between any of the group with time.
Concluion
The viual prognoi for patient with chronic anterior uveiti i generally good. Poterior egment complication appear to be more likely to occur if there i an underlying aociated dieae. However, the preence of complication doe not eem to affect the viual outcome in patient with chronic anterior uveiti.
