Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate and compare the efficacy, predictability, and afety of LAIK in the correction of primary and econdary mixed atigmatim after previou LAIK urgery.
Deign
Retropective, comparative cae erie.
Method
The retropective tudy included 118 eye having LAIK with the LADARVion 4000 excimer laer (Alcon urgical, Orlando, Florida) to correct mixed atigmatim. The eye were divided into two group: in group A (n = 64), LAIK wa for primary mixed atigmatim and in group B (n = 54), LAIK wa for econdary mixed atigmatim. Mean follow-up wa 10.6 ± 5.90 month.
Reult
Overall, the potoperative UCVA wa 20/20 in 51% of eye and 20/40 or better in 97% of eye at the lat viit. The mean refractive cylinder wa −2.18 ± 0.94 D preoperatively and −0.56 ± 0.56 D potoperatively. ixty-one percent of eye had a refractive cylinder of 0.50 D or le. One eye lot 2 line of BCVA (0.8%). None of the eye had potoperative BCVA wore than 20/25. The difference of preoperative cylinder wa ignificant between group A and group B (P = .000). However, there wa no tatitical difference of potoperative refraction and UCVA between thee two group. At 12 month, the mean vector magnitude achieved wa 93% of intended cylinder correction with a mean angle of error of −3.0 ± 16 degree.
Concluion
LAIK i a afe, effective, and predictable procedure to treat both primary and econdary mixed atigmatim. Nomogram adjutment with pherical and atigmatim component individually may improve refractive outcome.
