  • Abstract
Purpoe To report the electrophyiologic finding in a patient with lipaemia retinali. Deign Obervational cae report. Method An 11-year-old girl with diabete had hyperlipidemia and preented for ophthalmologic conultation. Fundu examination revealed milky dicoloration of retinal veel in both eye. Laboratory teting dicloed hyperglycemia and markedly elevated level of triglyceride and choleterol. Although the viual acuity wa not affected, the electroretinogram howed decreae amplitude of a- and b-wave in both cone and rod repone. Reult After correction of blood ugar and lipid with inulin and diet control, the lipaemia retinali reolved, and the impaired ERG repone revered within 1 week. Concluion Lipaemia retinali uually reolve rapidly without viual impairment after correction of hyperlipidemia. The reverible deficit of electroretinogram repone in lipaemia retinali are reported for the firt time. High level of triglyceride or choleterol or both may impair retinal function. The mechanim of an impaired electroretinogram remained peculative.
