  • Abstract
    Purpoe To ae the diagnoi-baed pontaneou long-term change in corneal power and refraction with a regreion model in the all-uture-out time period following non-mechanical penetrating keratoplaty (PK). Deign Retropective non-randomized clinical trial. Method etting: Clinical practice. tudy population: 147 eye [47 Fuch dytrophy (FD); 100 keratoconu (KC)] were tudied after uture removal in thi retropective longitudinal tudy. main outcome meaure: Zei keratometry [equivalent power (KEQ) and atigmatim (KAT)], corneal topography analyi [equivalent power (TEQ) and atigmatim (TAT)], and ubjective refractometry [pherical equivalent (EQ) and refractive cylinder (RAT)] were aeed in at leat three up to 16 ophthalmologic examination in the all-uture-out time period. obervation procedure: The time coure of each target variable wa analyzed in a longitudinal manner (time interval ≥ 12 month) eparately for each patient with a linear regreion model. Reult Pot-keratoplaty follow-up ranged from 31 month to 10.3 year. In the linear regreion model, the annual change in FD/KC howed an increae/a decreae in KEQ (0.29 ± 0.50/−0.63 ± 0.46 diopter, P = .02) and an increae/a decreae in TEQ (0.37 ± 0.54/−0.69 ± 0.49 diopter, P = .04) correponding to a decreae/an increae in EQ (−0.31 ± 0.47/0.63 ± 0.43 diopter, P = .02). KAT/TAT/RAT howed a minimal annual decreae (−0.06 ± 0.41/−0.05 ± 0.45/−0.06 ± 0.41 diopter) in FD but an increae in KC (0.46 ± 0.41/0.51 ± 0.43/0.46 ± 0.38 diopter) (P = .05/0.06/0.12). Concluion In the follow-up after pot-keratoplaty uture removal, patient with FD/KC tend to develop a pontaneou myopic hift (teepening of the cornea)/hyperopic hift (flattening of the cornea). In contrat with thoe with FD, patient with KC hould be couneled on the fact that atigmatim may increae again over time after uture removal.
