Abstract :
Purpoe
To report the outcome of a new keratoplaty technique aimed at treating full-thickne opacitie with minimal removal of recipient endothelium.
Deign
Interventional cae report.
Method
A deep central car wa removed uing microkeratome-aited muhroom-haped keratoplaty, coniting of a large anterior tromal lamella (9.0-mm in diameter) and a mall poterior button (5.0-mm in diameter) including deep troma and endothelium. Complete uture removal wa performed 3 month after urgery. Viual acuity, refraction, and computerized corneal topography were evaluated pre- and potoperatively.
Reult
Bet pectacle-corrected viual acuity improved from 20/60 to 20/20 at 6 month potoperatively. Potoperative refraction wa –2.50-1.00 × 20 degree.
Concluion
Microkeratome-aited muhroom keratoplaty may offer viual and refractive advantage over conventional keratoplaty urgery. Becaue mot of the recipient endothelium i preerved and may pread onto the poterior urface of the mall donor button, graft decompenation econdary to immunologic rejection may be avoided with thi technique.
