Abstract
Purpoe
To etermine the outcome of patient with decreaed viion aociated with anterior baement membrane dytrophy (ABMD) managed with diamond burr (DB) polihing.
Deign
Retropective nonrandomized cae erie.
Method
A chart review of all patient with ABMD who underwent epithelial debridement and DB polihing to treat viual diturbance reulting from corneal epithelial irregularity wa performed.
Reult
Ten patient’ chart were analyzed. The mean age wa 57.4 year. DB treatment wa performed in 13 eye. The average preoperative BCVA wa 0.40 (20/50). At the lat follow-up (mean 21.8 month) the average viual acuity of thee patient wa 0.88 (20/23), ignificantly better than pre-operative reading (P < .001). There wa no recurrence of dytrophic change in the treatment zone een with the lit lamp during the follow-up period.
Concluion
In thi tudy, DB polihing wa hown to be an effective and afe treatment for decreaed viion caued by to ABMD over an average follow-up of 21.8 month.
