Abstract
Purpoe
To report a cae of the lacrimal gland tumor diagnoed a carcinoarcoma (true mixed tumor) ariing from a pleomorphic adenoma.
Deign
Interventional cae report.
Method
An 80-year-old Japanee woman wa referred with a well-circumcribed tumor in the lacrimal foa.
Reult
The tumor wa excied, but the deepet portion remained becaue of heavy bleeding. Hitopathologically, the tumor conited of oteoarcomatou cell. No epithelial or myoepithelial component wa identified by immunohitochemitry. Two month later, the tumor progreed further and wa excied completely with lateral orbitotomy. The tumor conited primarily of oteoarcomatou component but alo had epithelial component including carcinoma and pleomorphic adenoma. Examination did not detect local recurrence and metatai at 10 pot-operative month.
Concluion
The tumor wa diagnoed a true carcinoarcoma of the lacrimal gland ariing from a pleomorphic adenoma. When lacrimal gland tumor containing arcomatou component are encountered, carcinoarcoma hould be included in the differential diagnoi.
