Macular Hole Development in Fellow Eye of Patient With Unilateral Macular Hole

Purpoe To determine the incidence of developing an idiopathic full-thickne macular hole in fellow eye that have vitreofoveal attachment and perifoveal vitreou detachment in patient with unilateral idiopathic macular hole. Deign Retropective cro-ectional obervational tudy. Method The fellow eye of 201 patient with full-thickne macular hole were examined by optical coherence tomography (OCT). A ubet of 58 fellow eye with vitreofoveal attachment and perifoveal vitreou detachment wa oberved during follow-up, and the change in the vitreofoveal attachment within 24 month from the initial OCT examination were invetigated. Reult In the 58 eye, the vitreofoveal relationhip changed in 27 eye. Among the 27 eye, three eye developed a full-thickne macular hole, and the other 24 eye developed a poterior vitreou detachment only over the fovea or a complete poterior vitreou detachment without macular hole formation. The vitreofoveal relationhip did not change in 31 eye during the 24-month period. Concluion From an analyi of the change in the vitreoretinal relationhip identified by OCT, three (11%) of 27 fellow eye in patient with unilateral idiopathic macular hole developed a full-thickne macular hole.
