  • Abstract
Purpoe To evaluate the reult of the full rectu mucle tranpoition augmented with a poterior intermucular uture for paralytic trabimu. Deign ingle-center, retropective, interventional cae erie. Method Thi tudy retropectively reviewed the medical record from November 1994 to eptember 2004 of 16 patient who underwent the full tendon tranpoition that wa augmented with poterior intermucular uture for paralytic trabimu. Thi erie evaluated the reult of a ingle tranpoition urgery; five patient had previou nontranpoition trabimu urgery. The following data were analyzed before and after the operation: (1) the angle of deviation in the primary poition, (2) the preence of diplopia in the primary poition, (3) the binocular ingle viual field, (4) the preence of an abnormal head poture, (5) the motility of the affected eye, and (6) the procedure that wa performed. Reult The preoperative angle of deviation in the primary poition wa 59 ± 22 prim diopter (prim diopter; range, 30 to 115 prim diopter) compared with 17 ± 12 prim diopter (range, –10 to 40 prim diopter) after the operation. The preoperative binocular ingle viual field improved from 0 degree to 60 ± 25 degree (range, 0 to 90 degree) after the operation. Diplopia in the primary poition wa reolved in 11 patient (69%) after the operation. There were no complication uch a cleral perforation, unwanted vertical deviation, or anterior egment ichemia in any of the cae during the procedure and potoperative follow-up. Concluion Full tendon tranpoition that i augmented with a poterior intermucular uture i an effective procedure that reult in improved ocular alignment in patient with paralytic trabimu and ha a favorable complication profile.
