Rik of udden Viual Lo Following Filtration urgery in End-tage Glaucoma

Purpoe To evaluate the effect of filtration urgery on viual acuity and viual field in patient with end-tage glaucoma during the immediate potoperative period and to ae the rik of udden viual lo. Deign Propective interventional, conecutive cae-erie. Method The tudy propectively included conecutive patient with end-tage glaucoma who underwent trabeculectomy with mitomycin-C. The incluion criterion wa a preoperative viual field with Advanced Glaucoma Intervention tudy core over 16. Main outcome meaure included change in bet corrected logMAR viual acuity, in mean deviation (MD) of viual field tet, in number of point among the four central viual field point with a enitivity le than 5 dB and in mean enitivity of the four central viual field point after urgery. The incidence of intraoperative and potoperative complication wa alo recorded. Reult Twenty-one patient (21 eye) were enrolled. Mean age wa 64 year (range 31 to 78). urgery reulted in a reduction of preoperative intraocular preure (IOP) by 14.1 ± 9.2 mm Hg (P < .001) and a decreae in potoperative antiglaucoma medication ue (P < .001). Preoperatively the mean viual acuity wa 0.77 ± 0.78, and the mean value of the mean deviation at the viual field tet wa −27.94 ± 2.7 dB. Three month after urgery, there wa no ignificant difference in viual acuity (0.74 ± 0.79, P = .73) and mean deviation (−27.50 ± 2.6 dB, P = .1). imilarly there wa no ignificant change in the viual field parameter teted to ae central viual field enitivity. There were no intraoperative complication. Tranient hypotony occurred in three eye while one eye preented more extended hypotony. Three of thee eye experienced bleb leak (eidel). Concluion In our cae-erie of conecutive patient with end-tage glaucoma, followed for 3 month after filtration urgery IOP wa reduced effectively and viion wa preerved with no occurrence of “wipe-out” phenomenon
