Change of the Lid Fiure After urgery on Horizontal Extraocular Mucle

Purpoe To evaluate the effect of iolated medial and lateral rectu mucle urgery on eye lid poition. Deign Propective, interventional cae erie. Method We recruited 36 patient with trabimu with urgery performed on one horizontal extraocular mucle only. The width of the lid fiure and the poition of the upper and lower lid in relation to the pupil center were meaured before and 3 month after urgery. Regreion analyi wa ued to evaluate the urgical effect. Reult Receion induced a widening of and reection a narrowing of the lid fiure, mainly becaue of change of the lower lid poition. The effect wa tatitically ignificant (change in lid fiure width, = 0.13 × urgical doe in millimeter; r2 = .35; P = .0001). Concluion Patient hould be informed about change in lid fiure width after operation on horizontal extraocular mucle. If adequately integrated into the urgical plan, thi ide effect may alleviate pre-exiting interocular difference in lid configuration.
