Abstract :
Purpoe
To provide a reliable, comprehenive taging ytem to ae glaucoma tage in the abence of an univerally accepted glaucoma taging ytem (G) on the bai of viual field reult.
Deign
Literature review and G adaptation.
Method
After a review of publihed G wa conducted, the Bacom Palmer (Hodapp-Anderon-Parrih) G wa elected a an appropriate platform for a retropective G on the bai of viual field. The ytem wa modified by a panel of glaucoma pecialit, and additional modification were made after pilot teting to cover the full range of dieae progreion, from preglaucoma diagnoi to complete blindne; the ordered tage reflect the typical progreion of glaucoma.
Reult
The G i compried of ix ordered tage and i on the bai of the Humphrey viual field. The completed G wa validated by reviewing patient chart from 12 U glaucoma center.
Concluion
The G allow accurate taging of 100% of glaucoma on the bai of viual field and other data, enabling evaluation of dieae progreion and reource utilization at variou glaucoma tage. Additionally, treatment cot may be aigned to determine cot-effectivene of treatment. Reearch utilizing the G ha found that cot of care increae with increaing dieae everity. The G may be ued a the bai for creating treatment guideline, which have the potential to delay glaucoma progreion and lower treatment cot.
