Randomized, controlled trial have etablihed atropine penalization a a viable alternative to occluion therapy, have uggeted that le treatment may be better tolerated and a effective a more traditionally ued doage, and have found no compelling evidence that treatment i beneficial clinically for older (over age 10) children with amblyopia. Concluion Early detection and treatment of amblyopia can improve the chance for a ucceful viual outcome. Conidering that the condition that place a patient at rik for amblyopia can be identified, that amblyopia repond to treatment, and that well-tolerated treatment for the condition are now recognized, it i not unreaonable to imagine that, in the near future, evere amblyopia could be eliminated a a public health problem.
