Reearch Criteria for the Diagnoi of Birdhot Chorioretinopathy: Reult of an International Conenu Conference

Purpoe To preent and evaluate reearch criteria for the diagnoi of birdhot chorioretinopathy. Deign Conenu tatement. Method Invetigator who attended an international conference on birdhot chorioretinopathy drafted diagnotic criteria, which were refined after comment by conference attendee. enitivity and pecificity of the criteria were evaluated by review of 82 previouly diagnoed cae and evaluation of 80 conecutive patient with other form of uveiti. Reult Criteria, including preence of “birdhot leion” and mild intraocular inflammation in both eye, are baed on clinical finding in the abence of ytemic dieae; HLA-A29 i upportive of diagnoi, but not required. Diagnotic criteria were found to be 100% pecific and 97.5% enitive. Poitive predictive value wa 100%; negative predictive value wa 97.6%. Concluion tandardized criteria for the diagnoi of birdhot chorioretinopathy will facilitate clinical reearch and the comparion of reult from tudie performed at different intitution by enuring a homogeneou population of tudy patient.
