Abstract :
Purpoe To examine the long-term longitudinal change in corneal urface configuration a determined by Fourier erie harmonic analyi of videokeratography data and of viual acuity and refraction after penetrating keratoplaty (PK). Deign Interventional cae erie. Method One hundred thirty eye of 130 conecutive patient who were cheduled for PK uing 16 interrupted 10-0 nylon uture were recruited. pherical equivalent power, regular atigmatim component, irregular atigmatim (aymmetry and higher-order irregularity) component of the central cornea a determined by Fourier analyi of videokeragraphic data, pectacle-corrected viual acuity, and pherical equivalent were examined at 1 week, and at 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 18, and 24 month after PK. Reult pherical equivalent power increaed coniderably for up to 1 month after PK, but thereafter howed no further appreciable change up to the final follow-up at 24 month. The regular atigmatim component decreaed markedly for up to 6 month after PK, while the total irregular atigmatim (um of the aymmetry and higher-order irregularity) component decreaed coniderably up to approximately 3 month, and then thee howed no further relevant change for up to 24 month. pectacle-corrected viual acuity alo improved markedly until approximately 3 month after PK, after which it wa virtually table. Furthermore, important correlation were found between regular and irregular atigmatim and the pectacle-corrected viual acuity. Concluion Corneal urface configuration after PK appear to be table by approximately 6 month after PK, concurrent with potkeratoplaty tabilization of viual acuity.
