Abstract
Purpoe
To ae intraoperative thermal level at the wound ite during divide-and-conquer phacoemulification with the overeign with Whitetar (W) ytem or the Legacy with AdvanTec and NeooniX (LAD) ytem.
Deign
Propective, randomized, parallel-group, comparative tudy.
Method
Twenty-ix ubject from a private clinical practice underwent divide-and-conquer phacoemulification with either the W ytem or the LAD ytem. CB/CF etting (60%/33% duty cycle) were utilized with W and 12 pule per econd with the LAD ytem. Key criteria aeed were peak wound-ite temperature, mean temperature change at the wound ite, effective phaco time, average phaco power, procedure time, amount of B ued, and urgical complication.
Reult
Mean temperature change at the wound ite wa greater for the LAD than the W group. There wa a tatitically ignificant difference (P = .0002) in mean peak wound temperature, with the LAD group having higher mean peak temperature (42.47 ± 5.33°C) than the W group (36.59 ± 1.33°C). Highet wound-ite temperature wa 51°C for the LAD group and 39.3°C for the W group. A tatitically ignificant difference (P = .0031) in mean peak temperature wa found between the LAD and W ytem for ubject with a cataract denity of 4: higher mean peak temperature were oberved for LAD patient with a cataract denity of 4.
Concluion
Our finding how that phacoemulification uing the W ytem reult in lower peak temperature and le temperature change at the phaco wound ite compared with the LAD ytem.
