Clinical Evaluation of the mart Plug™ in the Treatment of Dry Eye

Purpoe To evaluate the efficacy of a thermo enitive punctum plug, the mart Plug™, in the treatment of dry eye. Deign Obervational cae-erie tudy. Method Eighteen eye of 10 dry eye patient who previouly failed conventional plug inertion were enrolled. chirmer 1 tet, vital taining core, and tear clearance tet were performed before plug inertion, at 2 week, 1 month, and 3 month after inertion. Reult Although chirmer tet value were not ignificantly different before and after plug inertion, the tear clearance rate coniderably decreaed (Before inertion: 14.8 ± 11.4; After inertion: 8.2 ± 6.6) (P < .05). Roe-Bengal and fluorecein core improved ignificantly after plug inertion (Roe-Bengal: Before inertion: 6.4 ± 2.0; After inertion: 3.3 ± 1.6 point, Fluorecein: Before inertion: 4.8 ± 2.3; After inertion: 2.1 ± 1.3) (P < .05). No complication were oberved. Concluion mart Plug™ proved to be a afe and efficient option in the treatment of dry eye.
