Clinical Experience With The Double-Plate Ahmed Glaucoma Valve

Purpoe To evaluate the clinical efficacy and afety of the double-plate Ahmed Glaucoma Valve. Deign Multicenter, retropective obervational cae erie. Method We reviewed 50 eye in 50 patient treated with the double-plate Ahmed Glaucoma Valve with mean follow-up of 11.7 ± 7.9 month. Reult Average intraocular preure wa reduced from 36.0 ± 12.4 mm Hg before urgery to 15.8 ± 7.7 mm Hg at the mot recent follow-up after urgery (P < .001). The number of glaucoma medication wa decreaed from 3.3 ± 0.8 before urgery to 1.4 ± 1.4 after urgery (P < .001). The percent of ucce wa 76% of eye at the latet follow-up. Choroidal effuion occurred in four eye (8%) and did not require urgical treatment in any eye. Concluion Depite a poor prognoi group of patient in thi tudy, the double-plate Ahmed Glaucoma Valve wa effective in lowering intraocular preure with a low incidence of complication aociated with hypotony.
