Abstract :
Purpoe
To etimate the prevalence and ditribution of blindne and low viion in Northern China.
Deign
Population-baed cohort tudy.
Method
The Beijing Eye tudy included 4438 ubject with an age of 40+ year. Mean age wa 56.2 ± 10.6 year (range, 40 to 101 year).
Reult
Forty-three (1.0%) individual had low viion (<20/60 and ≥20/400 bet-corrected viion), and 17 (0.4%) individual were blind (bet-corrected viual acuity in the better-eeing eye <20/400). Low viion/blindne were ignificantly aociated with age (P < .001), myopic refractive error (P < .001), and level of educational background (P = .035). It wa not aociated with gender (P = .76) and rural v urban area (P = .88).
Concluion
