Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate tonometric outcome of trabeculectomy with mitomycin C in peudophakic patient with open-angle glaucoma and aociated rik factor for failure.
Deign
Retropective cohort tudy.
Method
eventy-three peudophakic patient (89 eye) with primary open-angle, normal-tenion, exfoliative, or pigmentary glaucoma were recruited. ucce rate were defined according to three criteria: (A) intraocular preure (IOP) ≤18 mm Hg and IOP reduction ≥20%; (B) IOP ≤15 mm Hg and IOP reduction ≥25%; and (C) IOP ≤12 mm Hg and IOP reduction ≥30%. IOP, viual acuity, complication, and additional intervention were documented after urgery. Cox’ proportional hazard regreion analyi wa ued to identify rik factor for failure.
Reult
Mean IOP (±D) decreaed from a preoperative value of 18.8 ± 6.6 mm Hg to 10.2 ± 5.1 mm Hg at one year and to 10.0 ± 4.2 at two year (P < .001 for both). Average number of preoperative medication decreaed from 3.0 ± 1.1 to 0.5 ± 1.0 at one year and to 0.5 ± 0.9 at two year (P < .001 for both). For criteria A, B, and C, ucce rate (±E) were 87% ± 4%, 83% ± 5%, and 76% ± 5% at 1 year and 67% ± 4%, 58% ± 8%, and 50% ± 7 at two year. Laer uture lyi wa performed in 30 eye, and 11% of thoe required a econd glaucoma procedure.
Concluion
Increaing age, ue of a limbu-baed conjunctival flap, and performance of laer uture lyi were factor that were aociated with a maller rik of failure. Preent finding indicate that trabeculectomy with mitomycin C provide acceptable long-term ucce rate in peudophakic patient, with a low incidence of complication.
