Abstract :
Purpoe
To ae the clinical outcome of conventional and wavefront-guided myopic laer in itu keratomileui (LAIK) retreatment.
Deign
Retropective, nonrandomized cae erie.
Method
The tudy compried a cohort of 97 eye having LAIK retreatment for reidual myopia after primary LAIK. The eye were divided into two group: conventional retreatment (CR) group (n = 74) and wavefront-guided retreatment (WR) group (n = 23). The retreatment LAIK wa performed uing LADARVion 4000 with/without CutomCornea (Alcon urgical, Orlando, Florida, UA). The mean follow-up wa 8.9 ± 5.8 month after retreatment (range three to thirty-ix month).
Reult
The mean pre-retreatment pherical equivalent (E) wa −0.93 ± 0.41 diopter in the CR group and −0.84 ± 0.48 diopter in the WR group (P = .409). At the lat viit, the mean E wa −0.19 ± 0.28 diopter and +0.32 ± 0.47 diopter, repectively (P < .001). An E of ± 0.50 diopter wa achieved in 92% (68 of 74) of CR eye and 65% (15 of 23) of WR eye. In the CR group, 85% eye had a uncorrected viual acuity (UCVA) ≥ 20/20 and 99% ≥ 20/40, and in the WR group, 35% and 100%, repectively. None of the CR eye and 17% (4 of 23) of WR eye lot two line of bet pectacle-corrected viual acuity (BCVA). Nine percent (7 of 74) of CR eye and 30% of WR eye (7 of 23) had optical ymptom before retreatment, the number wa reduced to 1% (1 of 74) and 4% (1 of 23), repectively.
Concluion
In the tudy period with the current equipment, our reult howed that conventional LAIK retreatment wa uperior to wavefront-guided LAIK retreatment in both efficacy and afety.
