Abstract :
Purpoe
To determine the effectivene of intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide in the management of bacterial endophthalmiti.
Deign
Interventional cae erie.
Method
Thi pilot cae erie included five patient (three patient after trauma and two patient after cataract urgery) with culture proven bacterial endophthalmiti. After 48 to 72 hour of the initial urgical procedure, 4 mg/0.1 ml of intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide wa injected, after confirmation that the vitreou iolate wa enitive to the initially adminitered intravitreal antibiotic. All patient received oral ciprofloxacin 750 mg twice each day for even day. The coure of inflammation and the clinical outcome were noted.
Reult
In all the five cae, there wa complete reolution of inflammation with favorable clinical outcome at the end of one month that wa maintained at the end of three month.
Concluion
Intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide could be a treatment option in the elected cae of bacterial endophthalmiti.
