Abstract :
Purpoe
To decribe the outcome of a patient with viual lo and optic nerve edema that reulted from oteopetroi who underwent an optic nerve heath fenetration (ONF).
Deign
Interventional cae report.
Method
A 33-year-old man with oteopetroi had bilateral viual field lo and optic nerve edema. Computed tomography and magnetic reonance imaging demontrated open optic canal. Although a lumbar puncture howed a normal opening preure, there were other finding that were uggetive of increaed intracranial preure. The patient elected to undergo a unilateral optic nerve heath fenetration.
Reult
After ONF, the patient experienced markedly improved viual acuity, viual field, and optic nerve appearance.
Concluion
Individual with viual lo and optic dik edema that i aociated with oteopetroi may benefit from ONF if the optic canal appear to be open and the optic nerve edema i thought to be related to increaed intracranial preure.
