Abstract :
Purpoe
To decribe a cae of a traumatic late dilocation of a laer-aited in itu keratomileui (LAIK) flap complicated by epithelial ingrowth.
Deign
Interventional cae report.
Method
A 50-year-old woman preented 21 month after uncomplicated LAIK with painful viion lo in the right eye after minor trauma.
Reult
A dilocation of the LAIK flap wa noted at examination and wa repoitioned. One week later, epithelial ingrowth wa detected in the flap interface. The ingrowth wa treated with flap lifting, debridement, and ealing of the flap with fibrin glue. Viual acuity returned to baeline, and there wa no recurrence after 20 month of follow-up.
Concluion
Traumatic dilocation of LAIK flap may occur many month after uncomplicated urgery and may be aociated with epithelial ingrowth after ucceful repoitioning. The additional ue of fibrin glue in conjunction with thorough debridement may be helpful in preventing the recurrence of epithelial ingrowth.
