Abstract :
Purpoe
To report on evere limbu cell inufficiency after trabeculectomy with ubconjunctival injection of mitomycin C.
Deign
Interventional mall cae-erie.
Method
even conecutive Caucaian patient (even eye) underwent penetrating trabeculectomy that included ubconjunctival injection of 0.1 to 0.2 ml of mitomycin C (0.2 mg/ml) at the 12 o’clock poition.
Reult
All patient with a follow-up time of >1.5 year (n = 3 eye; 43%) experienced marked ocular urface problem that included corneal thinning (n = 1) and cleral melting (n = 2). Four patient (57%) with a follow-up time of <14 month did not how complication that were attributable to the ubconjunctival application of mitomycin.
Concluion
Becaue limbal tem cell deficiency may be a late complication of ubconjunctival mitomycin C injection, ubconjunctival injection of mitomycin C may be avoided in routine antiglaucomatou filtering urgery.
