Abstract :
Purpoe To examine the relationhip among hypermetropia, axial length, and hypertenion in a Chinee population. Deign Population-baed cro-ectional tudy. Method Thi tudy included 1213 Chinee individual aged 40 to 81 year. Hypertenion wa defined a ytolic blood preure ≥140 mm Hg, diatolic blood preure ≥90 mm Hg, or elf-report hitory of antihypertenion treatment. Refraction wa determined with an autorefractor and refined ubjectively. A-mode ultraound canning wa ued to meaure axial length. Reult The crude odd ratio of hypertenion wa 2.5 (95% CI, 1.4–4.6) for moderate hypermetropia (≥+2.00 pheric equivalent diopter) v high myopia (≤–6.00 diopter), and 1.4 (95% CI, 0.9–2.1) for highet v lowet axial length quintile. Thee aociation were no longer ignificant after adjutment for age, gender, education, houing type, and income. Concluion Thee data provide no evidence that hypermetropia or horter axial length i aociated independently with hypertenion in Chinee individual.
