Abstract :
Purpoe
To decribe a technique of phacoemulification for patient unable to lie flat.
Deign
Propective interventional cae report.
Method
Two patient unable to lie flat during phacoemulification underwent thi technique in a Univerity Ophthalmology Department in the United Kingdom. Each patient wa poitioned erect or emirecumbent in a tandard reclining cataract urgical chair. The ceiling-mounted microcope wa rotated 60 degree from the vertical to point toward the patient. The urgeon at beide the patient, and while facing him or her, operated at nearly arm’ length.
Reult
The intraoperative and potoperative period were uneventful in both patient, with good viual outcome after urgery.
Concluion
Thi technique i valuable for ituation where the patient or the eye require upright poitioning becaue of the inability to recline flat, and hould be conidered for cae where tandard urgical poitioning i not poible.
