Abstract :
Purpoe
To report two cae of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) tear following intravitreal pegaptanib injection for occult choroidal neovacularization.
Deign
Noncomparative cae erie.
Method
The chart of two patient with pigment epithelial tear after receiving intravitreal pegaptanib were reviewed. Approval from the intitutional review board and informed conent were obtained before chart review. Fundu photo, intravenou fluorecein angiogram, and optical coherence tomography (OCT) were obtained before and after therapy confirmed the diagnoi.
Reult
Two patient had turbid pigment epithelial detachment (PED) and occult choroidal neovacular membrane (CNVM) treated with intravitreal pegaptanib. Both patient developed RPE tear week following one intravitreal pegaptanib injection.
Concluion
Thi report decribe the development of RPE tear after intravitreal pegaptanib injection. Caution hould be taken in cae of turbid pigment epithelial detachment in the monocular patient when treatment with intravitreal pegaptanib i entertained. Future tudie hould be performed to evaluate which ubtype of leion are mot uceptible to thi devatating viual complication.
