Abstract :
Purpoe
To report a cae of corneal copper depoition aociated with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).
Deign
Cae report.
Method
A 65-year-old woman with a hitory of CLL wa diagnoed with bilateral corneal opacification. lit-lamp examination revealed dene, central yellow-brown pigmentation of Decemet’ membrane in each cornea. The preence of a bilateral pigmented depoition at the level of Decemet’ membrane led to a preumptive clinical diagnoi of corneal copper depoition.
Reult
erologic invetigation revealed a markedly elevated copper (hypercupremia) and IgG level with a normal ceruloplamin. Wilon’ dieae wa excluded a a poible caue baed on liver function tet and a liver biopy. Thu, the patient wa diagnoed with corneal copper depoition econdary to hypercupremia aociated with CLL.
Concluion
Corneal copper depoition may be aociated with ytemic malignancy, mot commonly myeloproliferative diorder, including CLL. Recognition of the characteritic clinical feature aociated with corneal copper depoition allow the clinician to confirm the diagnoi with appropriate erologic tudie.
