Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate the change in conjunctival impreion cytology pecimen from patient receiving variou topical antiglaucoma medication.
Deign
Cro-ectional comparative tudy.
Method
Impreion cytology pecimen were obtained from the eye taking no topical medication (n = 20) and from the eye taking variou antiglaucoma medication (timolol n = 34; latanoprot n = 40; dorzolamide n = 32; timolol + latanoprot n = 30; timolol + dorzolamide n = 34). pecimen were graded on a cale of zero to three according to Nelon’ method.
Reult
Cytology core were ignificantly higher in the medication group than the control group. Mean cytology core of the control, timolol, latanoprot, dorzolamide, timolol + latanoprot, and timolol + dorzolamide group were 0.20, 1.62, 2.00, 1.75, 2.13, and 2.44, repectively. Among the medication group, cytology core were ignificantly lower in the monotherapy group than the fixed-combination therapy group.
Concluion
Variou topical antiglaucoma medication induce a ignificant degree of quamou metaplaia. Conjunctival urface could be altered after the long-term ue of antiglaucoma medication.
