Abstract :
Purpoe
To invetigate whether cultured autologou fibroblat injected into the ubconjunctival pace of rabbit may be ued a a new treatment modality for conjunctival and ubconjunctival atrophy caued by mitomycin C (MMC).
Deign
Animal tudy.
Method
Thirty New Zealand White rabbit were divided into three group of 10 animal. A ituation imilar to bleb leakage after trabeculectomy with MMC wa created by injecting 0.1 ml of MMC 0.05% weekly for three week into the ubconjunctival pace of 30 eye of thee 30 rabbit. The animal were then divided into control, autologou blood injection, and cultured autologou fibroblat injection group. Conjunctiva change were then oberved, and eye were enucleated for hitopathologic tudy at one, two, four, ix, and eight week after urgery in each of the three group.
Reult
In the control group, the conjunctiva wa thin and tranparent, and ubconjunctival fibroblat were hardly viible, with coarely arranged collagen fiber. In contrat, the autologou fibroblat injection group howed a thickened and le tranparent conjunctiva along with packed fibroblat and collagen fiber. In the autologou blood injection group, the tranparency of the conjunctiva and the denity of fibroblat and collagen fiber arrangement lay between thoe of the control and autologou fibroblat injection group.
Concluion
Cultured autologou fibroblat injection may be a feaible and effective treatment modality for conjunctival and ubconjunctival atrophy caued by MMC.
