Abstract :
Purpoe
To report the aociation of ulcu-fixated, ingle-piece hydrophobic acrylic intraocular lene (HAIOL) with pigment releae and econdary glaucoma.
Deign
Interventional cae erie.
Method
HAIOL wa implanted in the ciliary ulcu of 20 eye that developed poterior capule rupture during phacoemulification. We analyzed potoperative bet-corrected viual acuity, manifet refraction, frequency of intraocular len malpoitioning, and potoperative complication.
Reult
Potoperative bet-corrected viual acuity wa 20/40 or better in all eye. The mean potoperative phere wa −0.5 ± 0.7 diopter (range +1.25 to −2.00); the mean potoperative cylinder wa −1.2 ± 0.8 diopter (range 0 to −2.50). None of the HAIOL wa decentered or dilocated, and none required repoitioning. even eye (35%) developed pigment releae; three eye (15%) developed econdary glaucoma.
Concluion
Implantation of ingle-piece HAIOL in the ciliary ulcu i aociated with pigment releae and econdary glaucoma. Alternative method of aphakic correction hould be conidered.
