Abstract :
Purpoe
To ae the interchangeability of optic dik ize meaurement uing lit-lamp funducopy, optical coherence tomography (OCT-3), and confocal canning laer ophthalmocopy (HRT-II) in clinical practice.
Deign
Propective nonrandomized clinical tudy.
Method
Meaurement of vertical dik diameter (VDD) were obtained with the three method. Dik area wa obtained from OCT and HRT printout. True agreement between method in meauring VDD wa aeed uing Bland-Altman graph and 95% limit of agreement (LoA). Dik were claified a mall, average, or large, and agreement between method in thi claification wa aeed uing κ tatitic.
Reult
Forty-eight patient were enrolled (mean age 53.4 ± 14.3 year). VDD (mean ± D) wa 1.58 ± 0.15, 1.70 ± 0.22, and 1.90 ± 0.24 mm with funducopy, HRT, and OCT, repectively. Very large LoA were oberved: −0.29 to 0.70 mm for OCT and HRT, −0.07 to 0.71 mm for OCT and funducopy, and −0.29 to 0.53 mm for HRT and funducopy. There wa poor agreement (κ < 0.4) in claification of dik ize a mall, average, or large whether dik diameter or area wa compared and uing two definition of dik ize.
Concluion
We oberved a large range of difference in etimating dik ize with HRT, OCT, and funducopy. Thi preclude interchangeable ue of thee meaurement in clinical practice, and doe not allow imple converion formula to be propoed. In addition, there i poor agreement between thee method in claifying dik ize a mall, average, or large. At preent, etimation of both abolute and relative dik ize can only be defined eparately for each meaurement modality.
