Abstract :
Purpoe To ae agreement between tructural and functional teting in claifying eye a normal or abnormal and their repeatability on two conecutive viit by mean of tandard automated perimetry (AP) and confocal canning laer ophthalmocopy. Deign Analyi of elected data obtained from a propective longitudinal obervational cohort tudy, the Diagnotic Innovation in Glaucoma tudy. Method One hundred fifty-one participant with a AP and a Heidelberg Retina Tomograph (HRT) tet within a three-month window at two viit within 15 month were included. Eye were claified by AP and HRT at each viit. Agreement and repeatability were aeed by κ tatitic. Reult At viit 1, 33 (22%) of 151 eye had only AP defect, 11 (7%) eye had only HRT defect, and 35 (23%) eye had both AP and HRT defect. eventy-two eye (48%) were claified a normal by both tet. imilar reult were obtained for viit 2. The agreement between AP and HRT in claifying eye wa 70% (κ = 0.393) at viit one and 68% (κ = 0.363) at viit 2. Repeatability of claification by AP alone, HRT alone, and both AP and HRT between viit 1 and 2 wa 84% (κ = 0.693), 89% (κ = 0.752), and 90% (κ = 0.723), repectively. Concluion Agreement between AP and HRT wa only fair at both viit. Repeatability acro viit wa ubtantial for AP alone, HRT alone, and for the combination of AP and HRT. Thee reult ugget that detection of particular feature of glaucomatou damage depend on the technique ued. tructural and functional tet appear complementary, and both hould be ued for early detection of glaucoma.
