Abstract :
Purpoe To determine cytokine profile in aqueou humor and peripheral blood from patient with Behçet uveiti. Deign Propective, experimental, and cae-control tudy. Method Aqueou humor and peripheral blood ample from 24 patient with Behçet uveiti, 28 patient with other caue of endogenou uveiti, and 20 healthy ubject after uncomplicated cataract urgery were obtained. Cytokine (interferon gamma (IFN-γ), interleukin [IL]-2, IL-4, IL-10, IL-12, IL-15, and tumor necroi factor alpha (TNF-α)) were meaured by enzyme-linked immunoorbent aay and compared between the uveiti group. Reult Aqueou interferon gamma (IFN-γ) level were higher in patient with Behçet uveiti in contrat to higher concentration of IL-4 in patient without Behçet uveiti. Aqueou level of tumor necroi factor alpha (TNF-α) were higher in patient with Behçet uveiti than in patient without Behçet uveiti. Aqueou and erum IL-10 were detected in all patient without Behçet uveiti, but were below detection limit in all patient with Behçet uveiti. Furthermore, IL-15 wa excluively increaed in the aqueou humor of Behçet uveiti. The aqueou IL-2 or IL-12 level were imilar regardle of the preence of Behçet uveiti. Concluion Our reult howed that an extreme Th1 polarization, a high proinflammatory condition, a low immunouppreive tatu, and the preence of natural killer (NK) or CD8+ T cell–activating cytokine were unique feature in aqueou humor with Behçet uveiti, uggeting that different immunopathogenic mechanim may be involved in the ongoing intraocular inflammation of Behçet uveiti.
