Abstract :
Purpoe
To compare the effect of Epi-LAIK or Laer In itu Keratomileui (LAIK) on corneal enitivity and tear function.
Deign
Propective, non-randomized comparative clinical trial.
Method
eventy-nine eye (Group A) underwent Epi-LAIK and 61 eye underwent LAIK (Group B) for the treatment of myopia. Matching parameter between the group were age and attempted correction. Corneal enitivity, tear break-up time (BUT), and chirmer tet II were evaluated before and at one, three, and ix month after the procedure.
Reult
Corneal enitivity and BUT were decreaed at one month in Group A (P < .001) to be retored by the third month (P = .71 and P = .58, repectively). In Group B, corneal enitivity and BUT were reduced potoperatively (P < .001). There wa a ignificant difference in corneal enitivity between the two group at all potoperative interval. chirmer tet II wa not ignificantly decreaed potoperatively in Group A. In Group B, it wa decreaed at one and three month and retored by the ixth month.
Concluion
Epi-LAIK-treated eye had fater rehabilitation of corneal enitivity and tear function than LAIK-treated eye.
