Abstract :
Purpoe
To evaluate corneal thickne change after oft contact len (CL) removal in laer in itu keratomileui (LAIK) candidate.
Deign
Obervational cae erie.
Method
A total of 100 eye daily wearing CL for at leat ix month were evaluated. The central corneal thickne (CCT) wa meaured by pachymetry immediately after len removal and then repeated daily until it became table.
Reult
CCT immediately after len removal wa 557.4 ± 32 μm, and when edema completely reolved wa 521.8 ± 25 μm. Corneal edema required two to 15 day after dicontinuation of CL wear to reolve. Corneal thickne tabilized in 74% of patient within the firt week and in 26% of patient during the econd week. Older patient and more primary corneal edema needed longer time to recover (P < .0001).
Concluion
Dicontinuing CL wear at leat 15 day before keratorefractive urgery i recommended to achieve accurate pachymetry.
