Abstract :
Purpoe
To report delay in choroidal perfuion uggetive of ichemia after photodynamic therapy (PDT) with verteporfin for choroidal neovacularization (CNV).
Deign
Obervational cae erie.
Method
Retropective review of all patient who developed choroidal ichemia after PDT.
Reult
Thi vacular change wa found in eight (2.1%) of 373 eye of patient treated for CNV a a reult of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and in one (0.9%) of 114 eye treated for pathologic myopia. A decreae of 3 line of viion wa reported to occur one week after treatment in patient with AMD. At the 12-month examination, patient did not exhibit any marked change in viual acuity.
Concluion
Choroidal ichemia wa an uncommon manifetation owing to the electivity of verteporfin therapy and the exitence of abundant anatomotic vacular connection in the choroid. The low incidence of thi vacular event hould not preclude couneling PDT in eye that could benefit greatly from thi therapy.
