  • Abstract
Purpoe To invetigate whether contant exotropia patient with a previou hitory of intermittent exotropia X(T), like X(T) patient, can achieve potoperative bifixation, and whether they have a better potoperative enory outcome than thoe without previou hitory of X(T). Deign Propective comparative clinical tudy. Method ixty-three conecutive patient with intermittent or contant exotropia were divided into three group: X(T) (group 1), contant exotropia with a previou hitory of X(T) (group 2), and contant exotropia without previou hitory of X(T) (group 3). The urgical outcome were aeed and compared in motor and enory term eparately between the three group. ucceful motor alignment wa defined a within 8 prim diopter (PD) (exo or eo). A tereoacuity ≤60 econd of arc wa conidered a bifixation, and a tereoacuity ≤800 econd of arc wa conidered a gro tereopi. Reult The ucceful motor alignment rate of group 1, group 2, and group 3 were 79%, 71%, and 67%, repectively (group 1 v group 2, P = .826; group 1 v group 3, P = .551; group 2 v group 3, P = 1.000). Twenty-five (74%) patient in group 1 achieved bifixation and none achieved in group 2 or group 3 (group 1 v group 2, P = .001; group 1 v group 3, P = .001). Meanwhile, 34 patient (100%) in group 1, 11 (79%) in group 2, and 5 (33%) in group 3 achieved gro tereopi (group 1 v group 2, P = .021; group 2 v group 3, P = .025; group 1 v group 3, P = .001). Compared with patient in the two contant exotropia group, patient in X(T) group had a ignificantly better enory outcome in both bifixation and gro tereopi. Patient in group 2 had a better enory outcome than thoe in group 3 in gro tereopi. Concluion Contant exotropia patient with a previou hitory of X(T) have a better potoperative enory outcome in gro tereopi than thoe without previou hitory of X(T), but a wore urgical enory outcome when compared with X(T) patient in both bifixation and gro tereopi. Contant exotropia patient decompenated from X(T) may have mied the bet time for treatment.
