tatic Otolith-ocular Reflex Reflect uperior Oblique Mucle Diorder

Purpoe To elucidate the action of tatic otolith-ocular reflex (OOR) in patient with uperior oblique paly (OP). Deign Obervational cae erie tudy. Method Compenatory ocular countertorion produced by OOR wa analyzed in 12 patient with unilateral OP and 11 normal ubject uing a head-mounted meauring ytem. Reult When the head wa tilted laterally to the ipilateral ide, the mean ratio (%) of compenatory countertorion of the paretic eye in OP patient to the head-tilt angle wa ignificantly decreaed compared with that in normal ubject (7 ± 6% for patient and 17 ± 4% for normal ubject, P < .05). Mean ratio of compenatory countertorion of the paretic eye in nine patient with uperior oblique (O) mucle atrophy wa ignificantly lower than that in three patient with nonatrophy on tilting to the ipilateral houlder (6 ± 3% for patient with atrophy and 14 ± 6% for patient with nonatrophy, P < .05). Concluion OOR reflect the anatomic diorder of the uperior oblique mucle in OP.
